The Cape Fear Yacht Club will sponsor the 2019 Blessing of the Fleet at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 17th at the Southport Waterfront. The Southport Historical Society cannon, THOR, will fire a round to initiate the ceremony. The Blessing Boat, Flip Flop, a 36 foot Tiera sports fisherman, skippered by Dave Weigel, will be anchored near the city pier. All Third Tuesday Evening programs are free and open to the public; however, donations are happily accepted. Lectures are held at the Southport Community Building at 223 E. Bay St. at 7:00 pm unless otherwise noted. Please contact the museum for more information or to register 910-477-5151. Lectures are geared for 16 years and older.
