Save the Hall, Y’all: An Art Tour in Four Acts
Please join us on a musical, walking tour of four downtown Southport homes to preview plans for transforming the Historic Brunswick County Courthouse into a state-of-the-art performing arts and community center. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased online at https://upyourarts.org, beginning Tuesday, August 13.
Each house on the tour features unique musical artists to tickle your listening pleasure, appetizers cooked by your favorite Southport restaurants, and wine provided by Wine Rack and Uncorked by the Sea (or beer selections and water, if you prefer).
A Narrator for each act will guide you through a history of the building from courthouse to city hall, a description of its current state, and a vision of its imagined new life as a community center. You will be on center stage for the last act, invited to air your views and opinions.
Musical acts performing at each house on the tour will feed your imagination. Future nights out in Southport could easily include attending concerts at the restored building by any of the four groups playing September 20:
- Linda Estep, violinist and founding member of the Brierwood Ensemble
- Seven-member male choir of Browns Chapel AME Zion
- Progressive bluegrass fiddler Will Maxwell
- Nick Michaels jazz trio members of the Brunswick County Concert Band
And don’t forget the refreshments! Four beverages and somewhat unlimited appetizers are included with the price of admission. Participating restaurants and wineries include: Fishy Fishy Cafe, Frying Pan, Moore Street Market, Moore Street Oyster Bar, Oliver’s on the Cape Fear, Ports of Call Bistro, Provision Company, Thai Peppers, Uncorked by the Sea, and Wine Rack.
Tickets won’t last long! We must limit attendees to 250 people.
