City of Southport is seeking applicants to perform technical and administrative work in the Animal Protective Services and Code Enforcement Areas. Position will require the enforcement of State and local Animal Control Ordinances and the enforcement of certain sections of the City’s General Code of Ordinances. Successful applicant will report directly to the City Manager and be responsible for working closely with animal welfare/rescue organizations and will educate public on animal care, rabies prevention, and other animal related issues. Applicant will also be responsible for, the picking up/trapping of animals and the investigation and documentation of violations. Position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and one year of experience of animal-related training. Prefer related experience and certification with the National Animal Control Academy (NACA) or similar certification programs. Applicant must have a valid NC driver’s license.
