Please take notice that the Board of Trustees (the “Board”) of the Bald Head Island
Transportation Authority (the “Authority”) will conduct a special meeting of the Board as follows:

The special meeting is being called by the Chair of the Board pursuant to Article III,
Section 2 of the Bylaws of the Authority.

The matters to be heard at the special meeting are as follows:
1. A closed session, pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143-318.11(a)(1) and (5), to (i)
prevent the disclosure of information that is privileged or confidential pursuant to the law of the
State of North Carolina or the United States, including without limitation Section 132-1.2 of the
North Carolina General Statutes, or not considered a public record within the meaning of Chapter
132 of the North Carolina General Statutes, and (ii) discuss the Authority’s position in negotiating
the price and other material terms of a contract or proposed contract for the acquisition of real
property by purchase, option, exchange, or lease.

EMERGENCY SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING

The public will take notice that an Emergency Services Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019,4:00 p.m. at the
fire department.

The topics for discussion are:
– Update on Long Beach Road Substation with alternative option.
– Option to purchase 2 Ambulances from Mint Hill, NC.
– Discussion about the purchase of a commercial pumper for the Caswell Beach Station.

As a result of Hurricane Dorian, an extended Fall Cleanup is scheduled for Southport residents who reside inside City Limits. Proof of residency will be required.

Collection Site: Taylor Field, 409 East Nash Street

Site will be open Monday, September 16 thru Friday, September 20, 2019 from 7:00A.M. to 7:00P.M.

ITEMS ACCCEPTED: Construction Debris, shingles, wood, white goods, Metal, appliances, plastic, brown goods, furniture, mattresses, sheetrock, junk, yard debris.

NOT ACCEPTED: Electronics, (computers, monitors, TV’s) Hazardous Materials (paint, oil, etc.)

Curbside vegetation debris will be picked up by the City of Southport.  Please have all debris to the curb by September 20, 2019.  Other materials will be NOT be picked up.

Normal yard waste pick up will resume September 16. Brush Bandit will be picking up normal yard waste in cans and bags.

Position: Part-time Building & Grounds Assistant
Hourly Rate: $ 11.582 (no benefits)

Two new Facebook pages have recently been launched; an official City of Southport page, https://www.facebook.com/cityofsouthportnc/, to be used to promote the town and keep viewers informed of Southport happenings, and the Southport NC Emergency Information Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/SouthportNCemergency, for information and updates before, during, and after an emergency event.  Additional social media platforms are being planned for the near future.

In addition, the City of Southport’s website, https://southportnc.org/emergency-information/ has a new Emergency Information page to keep its citizens informed and as safe as possible.

The Southport DMV Office will be closed during July and August and will reopen in September with their regular schedule.

Due to Hurricane Dorian, the Southport DMV will only be open on Tuesday, September 3, 2019

Regular schedule will resume in October.

NC DMV office is located at the Fire Department Substation, 111 E. Nash Street, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the first full week of each month from 9 am – 4:30 pm.

Driver’s License
New drivers must take written, vision, sign and road tests. Bring a certified copy of birth certificate and one other official document showing your age. Out-of-state drivers must take written, vision and sign tests, and possibly a road test, and surrender their old licenses. Proof of liability insurance DL 123 is required for any first time licenses in North Carolina or anyone renewing his license who has had a traffic conviction within the past four years.
