Police Officer for the City of Southport provides law enforcement including: community policing, traffic, investigation and patrol duties (foot patrol & bicycle patrol). Department: Police: Minimum Requirements; Must hold a BLET Certificate from a BLET Training course accredited by the N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division or must be enrolled in a BLET program at the time of application. Applicants will need to provide a copy of their certificate or if currently enrolled a letter from the BLET director or coordinator. In lieu of a BLET certificate out-of-state applicants must hold full-time sworn status and be able to transfer certification as approved by the N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division. Applicants must have a High school diploma or successful completion of a certified GED program.  Applicants must also possess a valid NC driver license. Out-of-state applicants must have a valid driver’s license from the state of residence and have the ability to obtain a valid NC driver license by hire date. Hiring Range: $36,320 – $38,136.

A small spill up steam from us on the Cape Fear River has our intake from the river offline for a short time. Please note that we will be using water that we have stored and should not see an interruption of service pressure but we should conserve water. This means the irrigation should be halted until further notice.

A zoning map amendment application that would rezone 15 properties from BD to R-10
along the Lord Street and Caswell Avenue corridors between 8th and 11th streets. These
are residential properties that have always been zoned business district. City staff is
looking to fix this issue.

The City is partnering with the other communities in Brunswick, New Hanover, Onslow, and Pender Counties to update the multi-jurisdictional Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan. Updating this plan will help make us less vulnerable to natural disasters. This survey is an opportunity for citizens to share opinions and participate in the hazard mitigation planning process. Transportation Authority (the “Authority”) will conduct a special meeting of the Board as follows:

The special meeting is being called by the Chair of the Board pursuant to Article III,

prevent the disclosure of information that is privileged or confidential pursuant to the law of the
State of North Carolina or the United States, including without limitation Section 132-1.2 of the
North Carolina General Statutes, or not considered a public record within the meaning of Chapter
132 of the North Carolina General Statutes, and (ii) discuss the Authority’s position in negotiating
the price and other material terms of a contract or proposed contract for the acquisition of real
property by purchase, option, exchange, or lease.
